ANCIENT RIVER GUMS

The immense river gums along the Darling River can live nearly a thousand years. They are full of character, full of the scars and wrinkles of age, full of gesture. How long have these two matriarchs been sharing their lives with one another - reaching out, turning away, stretching upwards and outwards? I love to contemplate their dialogue.
